every good gift and perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father...James 1:17

Ushering year 2009…

Today, we were supposed to sit for our Russian credit test. But, since today is New Year Eve…teacher said, is ok…we were exempted to sit for the test. Well, I missed called dear, and we met at SHUM, as how we had planned. Today is our 4th Annv. I bought a watch for my dear, and dear bought me a mp3 player. I felt so blessed. We had our lunch at the pushkinskii food court. Tonight ame not joining us for dinner, so, left me and dear dear only. We bought pizza and some rolled thingy with cheese. We also had ice cream, pine apple with coke. Wow…very happy.
I really thank God for His blessings upon our relationships. I knew it is because of His love that we can love. May God continue to guide us and teach us to be a couple that is pleasing to Him.

This year, the church had Christmas dinner for Christmas. Well, all cell group leaders were asked to in charge of a dish. My cell and Sharon’s were asked to prepare brownies. Well, at 10 am, we all gathered at the 5th floor kitchen and after distributing the tasks, we started to bake. We baked for few hours; finally two big boxes of brownies were produced. At 6 all of us were at the pharmocollege, waiting for the event to start.
We were served by the ushers and greeters ministry members.
1st dish - appetizer by sien mei's and rudy's cell group
2nd dish - rice, chicken, mix vege, some Nigerian dish, fried fish prepared by Tsf, the nigerians cell group,
3rd dish - brownies by my cell group and sharon's.

There was also gift exchanged session. I got a very interesting gift - smartbag...i seriously don't know what is the function till i read the further about itin the net.

merry christmas~~

On the Christmas day…thank God we don’t have class today. Me and dear went out to get some stuffs for tonight Christmas dinner in the cell group. We shop for hours plus looking for the best gift for gift exchanged programme later at that dinner. The dinner was a successful one…although there were few times black out in Pris’ room, yet this did not kill the atmosphere…we had so called the candle- light dinner. I believed we enjoyed that night.

so early in the morning...

Today me and dear went to hyper linear for groceries. Guess what time we departed from the hostel? It was about 8 plus in the morning. Well, this is not the first time tho, I remembered few semesters, we went out much earlier than today. Some even think that we are crazy, walking in the cold on Sunday morning instead of lying on your warm and comfort bed; but, who cares…the most important thing is that both of us had fun!
We took the mashrute; in the mashrute, there were only both of us. Then, we started to shop for groceries and some Christmas gifts. After that, we took a mashrute back to the uni. I brought dear dear to a place for lunch. I’ve been telling him about this place for the past several weeks, but we both were too busy with studies.
Today finally we could go to the place. I ordered pancake, dear ordered omelet with mushrooms, and we both shared a plate of Cesar’s salad and a glass of fresh orange. Even though it was just a simple meal, I believed we both enjoyed it. After that, we went to the market, and shop for some vegetables. Then, we took the trolley bus back to our hostel. Before walking back to the hostel, I asked dear to accompany me to a shop that sells cups, plates and others decorative ornaments. I thought of getting some ornaments to decorate my room for Christmas. I found a big Santa sock. After that we walked back to the hostel. By 12 noon, we reach our rooms.
Indeed an enjoyable day!

Eliza has grown up...

Today, I asked my youngest sister to send me her pictures. Mummy told me that she attended the Dental Dinner last week, and was very well dressed. I was very excited, and asked her to send her pictures to me immediately. She looked so awesome, so gorgeous, and so adorable. My goodness, I just want to praise God and thank God for bringing her up thus far, and I believe He will do more great things in her life as she continues to grow in the Lord. My youngest sister now is doing dentistry in AIMST, Malaysia.

my oldest friend

Yesterday, I met up with Dalween. I knew Dal since kindergarten. Imagine, 20 years of friendship.
I believe it was God’s timing for us to meet up. Actually, I ordered a box of Christmas muffin for her, not knowing that she has already shifted to the apartment…thus Lynn Wei can’t help me to deliver to Dal.
I tried all ways to get her contact, and finally Pris suggested to look for Rene. I asked Pauline for his contact… and straight after that, I text him and ask for Dal’s number. I text Dal, telling her that I’ve something for her. So, we decided to meet up in the uni the next day.
I brought the muffin along to class. (Having Tuberculosis cycle, in quite a distance hospital)…after class, Pauline wanted to go Радуга to have a look. Ok then, since there were still time…. I was looking around the stuffs there. Very attractive! Suddenly there was a prompt in my heart to get something for Dal. So, I started to look around, searching something nice for her. Aha, found one. It’s a candle set. I then bought a present paper bag and put the candle set inside.
After that we all left the shop and I took a bus back to the uni. On the way, I took out the muffins that I wanted to present to her. Oh no! The muffins were damaged, except for one- the banana flavor. I thank God that He prompted me to get a gift for her from Радуга. We then meet up and had the gift exchange. I explained to her about the muffins, and I could manage to give her one out of three muffins. She was very happy, and we even shared the muffins.
Even though the meeting was just for a few minutes, it just brought us back to the time where we spend together in Jelebu. She was the 1st friend i knew during my childhood life; no wonder at the top of the present paper bag that she gave me, she wrote “from your oldest friend”. I was really touched by those words.

i wonder for a moment

There is one situation running in my head. Today, someone complaint, not actually complaining tho, perhaps, it’s just a sharing. Well, after hanging up the phone, I wonder for a moment. If I was in the situation, I would have just bought another extra ticket; what is that after all to treat someone so dear to you, and had took the effort to take care of you during your younger days… I can’t understand why someone rather speaks words which are kind of unwise and unpleasant than just getting a ticket for that person.
For me, I will not hesitate to buy the extra ticket for the person even though the ticket cost so much.

why is it so?

Sometimes I’ve been wondering, why I have to be the one to bear all these… someone once told me that not to care too much about other people’s business…yet, I just can’t learn it. Why do people need to manifest the effect of mood swing? Why can’t people control their temper or even the facial expression? Must they show it out? Is it to attract attention from the surrounding people?

how lifestyle influence on students' performances in studies

For the past few days, I was very busy completing my OZZ (public health) research work. The research work is on “how lifestyle influence on students’ studies.” Here is the abstract of my writings upon the survey done. Really thank God for His power to complete this task. Praise the Lord.
This study examined the relationship between a healthy lifestyle and students’ performances in studies. A healthy lifestyle was measured by diet, exercise, sleep, alcohol use, and tobacco use. The participants included 300 undergraduate students from Kursk State Medical University, who represented a range of ages, gender and nationality. It was hypothesized that a healthy lifestyle would be positively related to students’ performances in studies. More specifically, that diet and exercise would have a positive relationship to students’ studies, and alcohol and tobacco use would have a negative relationship to students’ studies.
This survey is very important in order to find out factors in a students’ lifestyle that can make them healthy or unhealthy. Basic diet and nutrition aids a student in many different ways. Eating the correct amount of nutrients provided in the food groups is essential for the body’s proper functioning and may affects overall performance, which we would assume that the performance could also include cognitive performance of students. Exercise is another aspect that is important to a students’ health. Exercise activities have been known to boost energy levels, release tension, prevent illnesses, reduce the risk of heart disease, and help a student to manage stress. It is found that students who did not engage in physical activity also had an array of other unhealthy habits, such as poor diet, smoking, and low academic performance. On the contrary, students who engage in physical activity had higher grade point averages and have better relationships with their parents. Exercise not only promotes good physical health but it also aids a student’s psychological health. Excessive alcohol use and use of tobacco products are harmful to one’s body because it can cause illnesses and turn into an addiction. This is very unhealthy, because addictions severely hinder a student’s present and potential capabilities because the body becomes dependent on the substance. Excessive use of alcohol also can cause students to use bad judgment and can also lead to more serious health problems such as cirrhosis of the liver, inflammation of the pancreas, brain and heart damage, and malnutrition. Tobacco use can also cause a variety of serious health problems among students. Smoking may cause lung cancer, stroke, heart disease, infertility, and bronchitis. Finally, the studies also examined how a stressful lifestyle may influence on students’ studies. It is very important for the students to have a balance lifestyle in order for their bodies and minds to function properly.
Thus, if a healthy lifestyle is not achieved, the students will encounter problems not only physically but mentally as well. Ultimately, if student’s health is not up to par then that student will not perform to their potential in their studies.

being surrounded by the garden of God's grace

It has been a while again...
hmm, kinda busy with the tight schedule for the past weeks...had ENT cycle and followed by Therapy. Well, just want to praise the Lord, because of His love, He sustained me. As it is writen in 1st Peter 5:7 - cast all your cares unto Him, for he cares for you.
God is good. In time of difficulties, God will just lift you up. He is faithful, He will never leave you nor forsake you. Along the ENT cycle, i can experienced myself being surrounded by the garden of God's grace. His favor and blessings is indescribable.
Praise the Lord.

it's ame's birthday!

Today finally I can pass the present that me and fang yao bought for her. Well, I’m really glad to see she likes the present very much.
As usual, we celebrated her birthday at 12 am of 16th Nov. a few of our bro and sis in Christ came and rejoice with her.
Well, tomorrow, I have a plan for her – to cook for her, but it seems like she is kinda occupied; I don’t want to make her miserable to reject her friends invitation, so, I made my plan flexible.
What I want to prepare for her : fried bee hoon, sushi, jelly and if possible fruit salad.
Anyways, I just pray that
May God grant her this day
That's as special as her,
May He bless her, keep her,
And cause her dreams to come true.

Happy birthday, ame.

phrases to ponder

Today as I open the msn, I saw Adeline’s personal message…”are you sure you want to be a doctor? Are you sure you can be a good doctor?” Well, to me, it’s a powerful one. It is a powerful phrase to ponder, and at the same time, a powerful motivation for us who are doing the course. I feel like adding another phrase, “what is your aim in medical school, and what is the reason, you choose doctor as your profession.”

was blind, but now, i see

For the past few days, I was kinda disturbed mentally and emotionally. Although by right I should be good in handling such stuffs…yet, I struggled.
I was very disappointed and felt this thing is too ridiculous, and unfair. Because of this, I was very upset and I could feel that my mind was simply jammed.
Till I went to the cell leader’s meeting; and Dr. Pascal shared something. To me, it is very obvious; GOD is using Pascal to teach me as well as to remind me my identity in Christ. He said something that really struck my heart. We have the authority.
At that moment, I felt like crying, and asking God for His mercy and grace… how foolish I was to trouble my mind with such nonsense.
For one thing I’m sure is, God will never allow us to be on the disadvantage side. God is Good and He is faithful. Praise the Lord.

knock knock...who's that?

Nowadays, each loud knock on the door…will always make me and my roommate look at each other for a moment…and quickly unplugged all the electrical appliances. We learnt from our mistake the other day.
I remembered it was on Thursday…suddenly there was a knock on the door. It was the hostel dean, and commandant and a fireman…they were here to check the electrical appliances that we are using. Something very awful happened. The fireman confiscated our electrical kettle. Actually, I guess my roomy misunderstood his question, when he asked us where do we use this kettle. She pointed the plug nearby the kettle, and obviously he concluded that we are using the kettle in the room. And that’s it…we could not prepare hot drinks for breakfast the next day.
Anyways, she managed to claim back from the hostel dean the following day by writing a petition and promise not to repeat the mistake again. I mean, the hostel dean actually allowed us to use in the room, but, whenever the fireman comes for spot-check…we should know what to tell the fellow.

Amelia's 21st birthday

Ame’s birthday is coming soon. me and dear bought her a present. Guess what…it’s a mobile phone. Well, since, hers is not working properly…so, me and dear decided to get her a new one. I’ve been collecting the money since sept. Of coz, still short of some amount and dear top up the rest of the amount. Hopefully, she will like it. No body knew about it yet. But, I felt I can no longer keep this secret anymore, therefore, I expressed it out here first. Just thank GOD for His financial blessings.

time flies

Wow, time really flies.
It has been a month I did not update my blog… what was I busy with?
Well, kinda hard to answer. Perhaps, the schedule was kind of tight.
Anyways, I just want to thank GOD for bringing me through this whole month…
Today I had my discipleship in Italian café. Wow, just want to thank GOD for my sheep. I remembered Jaswine shared about being a good shepherd. Well, one of the points she shared was to be a good shepherd, is to feed your sheep. Today, my sheep fed me physically and spiritually. I am really blessed with his understanding about the story in the Bible (David). And his sharing really helps me to have deeper insights on God’s Word. God’s Word is so wonderful. If you take some time to read, you’ll find out that each sentence in the Bible is so meaningful and it does relate to your life.
Praise the Lord!

back to class ~ back to share

hi there...after such a long break...i'm back to share

I have started my 5 th year course...about 3 to 4 weeks ago...Thank GOD everything seems to be fine.
Yesterday i had my last day of psychiatry cycle...and we were given oral test. I was very tension...trying to take very very deep breath simply to cool down myself...yet, the tense is there. I claimed for God's favor and His peace.
Praise the Lord, i could managed to answer teacher's question and pass the test well.
I don't know why, but the interest to learn more about this course is so great, perhaps i'm too curious about it.
I told mummy about it, and told her, about the interest and if taking up this course as my specialization... and guess what, she didn't really like my idea... for the first time, mummy is kinda reluctant to agree with me...papa too...Papa said, that he's afraid, i would be influenced by those people in the ward...errr....anyways; in order not to worry them too much, i told them, perhaps the interest is for temporary only...

Ah…after hours, everything was done. after watching the news, papa and ame went out to ta pau fried rice and noodles back for dinner.
We then, watched a movie in tv2 “papa loves me” is a Hong Kong movie. Well, personally I think this drama is very suitable at that time, and we enjoyed the show so much. During the advertisment, i went down and took the mooncake up. We ate the mooncake which papa bought from Genting and ya, I have mine too – pandan taste !! I like it.

one stone hit two birds

Papa came back quite late today. Me and ame were preparing to go to bed already. Suddenly papa said he wanted to bring us up to Genting Highlands for few days, as he was given the free room. We of course were delighted. However, our plans has been disturbed! Plans? Me – I was supposed to go to KL to meet dear’s sis to pass her the passport. Ame- supposed to wait for michelle to collect her ic, while Liza- was supposed to follow her friends to Seremban .
A lil confused- dunnow whether it was GOD’s plan or not. I was truly regretted for did not seek GOD first about it. I then prayed over it.
However, we tried to fix things out. Thank GOD, tho there were so many hustle and bustle, we managed to hit two birds with one stone.
Thank God for it!

In the afternoon, I started to clear off my letters. Wow, so many of them. My sisters were quite piss off with those and pestering me to throw away asap! Well, I managed to go through some of them and all those letters brought my memory back to my high school life. I felt funny tho when I read those letters..it was very kiddo!!

Home sweet home is mummy's favorite phrase, whenever she came back home from holidays...
I reached home on the 10th of July.
Mummy came and pick us up. Well, after sending mummy back to her office, dear drove back the car. After that, dear sent me to hair saloon to have a hair cut. So light now.
Then, we went out for dinner.
After dinner, me and dear and mummy had a very long chat.
However, we did not dare to go too far, coz, mummy has to wake up early to go to work, and us too. I mean me and dear we planned to go to Putrajaya to do the stamping for cert translation.

last sheperd meeting with fern

Today I went out to have lunch with Fern at the Italian restaurant. we ordered a pie of pizza and a plate of pasta. I felt so full. We talked about things that happened in our lives for the past few weeks, that we did not managed to meet up, since me and fern were having our exams... i really want to take this opportunity to thank God for arranging Fern to be my sheperd...i learnt alot from her. Learn to be patient in any circumstances be it, dealing with people and situation that seems cloudy. She is so attentive, knowing that we are leaving for Moscow tomorrow night, she prepared some tibits for me and dear and Ame...so that we can munch in the mashrut. I was actually very reluctant to leave the meeting, but...time did not allow me to stay longer...she is busy with her graduation thingy and me, have to rush back to do the packing...anyways, after the meeting with Fern, me and dear met up at dom pitta. We then went to hyperlinear to get some chocolates – dear wanted to get some of chocolates for his sister and friends. Pretty tired tho.

One quarrel, argue even fight, when she or he hasn’t the peace in him or her.

yeah, there were many arguments between me and dear or me and ame.
I realized when a person has not enough peace in him or her, this person tend to fall into an argument easily, and when, such argument is not properly dealt, then, don’t be surprised that this may turned out to be a fight.
I really thank GOD for His grace and mercy. I thank God that whenever I was in the verge of falling into an argument, He pulled me up and filled me with His peace.

thank GOD for His signal

I really want to thank God for His prompting on me to have the itinerary ( air ticket from Russia to Dubai to Malaysia). After confirming the ticket with the travel agent, we just leave it and did not take any further action.
However , today, after the prompting of the Holy Spirit, we tried to open the page, and check for the itinerary to be printed out…and guess what, we just couldn’t turn on the page. Dear then, tried to call the Moscow airport for confirmation, and truly, the flight was cancelled. I was kinda worried, but, I told myself, I really need to be ok…could not afford to mess up the condition anymore. I then started to prepare dinner, as me, dear, and ame hasn’t; eaten anything yet since morning.
I cooked sweet and sour. I was actually, very blur at that moment, I dumb the vege, meat into the same pot, and start cooking it and made some gravy and ya..
Thank GOD, it turned out to be eatable, and Ame still said that it tasted good.
I decided not to be fuss with it, and leave it to GOD to settle it, coz I knew it is only GOD that can made such things possible.

1st summer attachment in Kursk..

This is the 1st time, of me joining the other students who are not going back to their own country for summer break ( mostly African) doing my summer practice here.
Well, nothing special, is like having normal practical class during therapy cycle;
Today, i was given a patient with Myocardial Infarction and another one with Hypertension.
I then begin with curration; asking them their personal data and also their complains. The first patient wasn't very active, while the second patient was the opposite. So, basically, i measured their blood pressure and pulse.
After that, i hang around with those friends who went and we start talking about culture. Africans and Malaysian culture.
A great day indeed.

Samantha's birthday

Today is Samantha's birthday. She is the only group mates we as a group could not celebrate for her. For the past 3 years, her birthday was in the period of examinations...and everyone was so busy with our books. This year, eventhough the exam ended earlier, we still could not managed to celebrate for her, coz, she has gone back to Malaysia for holidays. Hmmm, i guess she's at home now, celebrating her big day with her beloved family members , which i believed that would be more merry.
Well, Sam is actually my room mate and my group mate. We both have been staying, learning and enjoying together with all kinds of emotion - laughter, tension and relax...etc
I however thank GOD for placing her to be my room mate.
Well, i wish her a blessed birthday!!
Have an enjoyable holidays back in Malaysia!

day trip

Today we went to hypereropa; it's a shopping complex situated somewhere around BCMP; quite far tho.We were actually not too sure which bus to take, but when there was a masrute heading forward, dear and i just went in the masrute. The masrute then brought us to a place, which we haven't seen before. Before the masrute turn to left, which actually heading back to our hostel, dear asked the masrute driver to stop and we got down. We then walked for a distance and finally, dear saw the advertisment about the shopping complex - that built our confidence and convince us that we were on the right path. We then asked a man where the shopping complex is, he then pointed to us. I was so thirsty... dear dear then spend me a glass of cold drinks and a piece of cake. We then went down to the supermarket to do groceries. I was very happy although in between, there was some unfavorable condition occured; i believed we both enjoy the day trip - such adventurous and fun day trip. I praise GOD for His protection and provision.

God will make a way, where there seems to be no way

I’m very happy for one of my friends; this friend of mine finally graduated, and started working. Everything seems to be fine and well. I praise GOD for that.
Also, my friend is attending a church, which is also the 1st church that started the Boys’ Brigade

From the mail, my friend seems to be very comfortable with the church, and I pray that my friend will continue to grow more and more in the LORD.

Thanks for my friend’s encouragement, “GOD will make a way where there seems to be no way”

hot weather with short fan

Today after class, I went to technocila, to buy a fan. The fan is only 15 cm tall. This fan has no base, as how the usual fan had. It has a clip, where we can clip the fan at the edge of the table or bed. After paying, I asked the person in charge to test for me; to check whether is the fan is working properly or not. But, the guy just asked me to go back, and told me to go back to them anytime, if there’s a problem with the fan. Well, I wasn’t very happy with his attitude. and fine, without wasting my time, I went back, and start to on the fan. True enough, the fan isn’t working. I was kind of mad with the guy. I have to go back to the shop again. Thank GOD dear dear accompanied me there and helped me to tell the person. He then checked for me and got me the new one.
I’m really happy, coz, finally, I have my own fan. It is very necessary you know…as the weather in mid June is so hot.

time flies

Today is my first day of neurology cycle. Well, basically, we are learning about the central nervous system, particularly the brain. Nothing much today as my teacher was quite busy with her patients. So, after demonstrating some of the skills that we have to perform on patients during medical check up, she then let us go.
This cycle going to last for 2 weeks and after that will be my finals. Wow, time really flies.
But, I just want to commit the time unto God’s mighty Hands, for He makes things beautiful in HIS time.

summer race~ bbq.

Today the church is celebrating the 6th anniversary. So in conjunction to this celebration, they had organized a programme called “the summer race”. Everyone was required to meet up at the Padfak Hall at 10 am. Firstly, I would like to thank GOD and praise GOD for such a wonderful weather. Today’s weather was really the perfect one! Not too hot, and not too cold. Wow, very rare to have such kind of weather in summer.
So, after dividing us into the respective groups, we all then head to the Kursk Gate – that was our starting point. The first event, 2 people from each group had to run hand in hand for about a hundred meter. Then, they were asked to pick a number and passed to the person in charge, and run back to the point that they started. Next, we were asked to guess a place – the clue was something connected with the Book of Psalms in the Bible.
We were kind of struggling, thinking of the next check point. Finally, yes! The Pushkin Theater. There, the person in charge gave each of the group a task – to find the respectives references for the given bible verses. After that, we were asked to go to the Kursk Hotel, and there’s another check point. The next person in charge asked us to divide our group members equally into 3 small groups. Each of the small groups were asked to go to 3 different supermarket. 1st- shum, 2nd – grin, 3rd – perikastok, manesh.
So me and dear were asked to go to manesh. Guess what, I had a very terrible experience there. I was accused, for not paying a bottle of 0.5 L mineral water – Bon Aqua. I tried explaining to them, ok, it was my mistake number one, to bring in outside product, and I entered the wrong way, instead of the entrance, I enter through the exit way. Ok…I admit that…but, I wonder what the guard was for? I mean, were they been employed for just standing in front of the supermarket just like other models in the clothes shops? I was very angry plus I was in a rush, and couldn’t talk more. Why? Coz the cashier, the guard…both of them was so unreasonable!
I was very mad at their attitude towards the customers. Dear was with me, even though dear helped me to explain to them, they ignore all the explanations, till chee kai came and settle the fuss with money. ~ Simply pay them for no reason!! We then left the Manesh and got into the mashrute to central market, to meet up with other members. We arrived quite late. Anyways, the next event was we were asked to eat the bun - 4 hot dog buns.
And the last task was, we were supposed to go back to Padfak. Choc ky, one of our members fell down…and got scratched on his abdomen and elbow. Fern helped him to clean the wound and bought him the antiseptic cream. She then helped him to apply on the wounded area. Anyways, we were then asked to memorize psalm 91. so we divide the whole chapter equally among the group members. Not more than 5 mistakes, says the person in charge. We managed to recite them out, with 4 mistakes, and overall we got the 3rd place. Hey, not bad though…3rd out of 15 groups. The summer race was ended with barbeque, somewhere behind out hostel. Wow, the view was so fascinating.
I just want to thank GOD for His protection and guidance upon us. Thanks dear for helping me especially at some points, I just dun feel like running, even walking.

Wow! There are 3 more days to go… to end the ENT cycle. Well, although this cycle has kind of been a very stressful cycle, I want to thank GOD for HIS faithfulness on me. He is so faithful, that HE will never leave me nor forsake me. I knew I have to rely on Him alone. Thank GOD for blessing me to meet up with jagdesh, as she has been a very great blessings to me. thank GOD for HIS encouragement through her.

ENT

Today is the first day of ENT cycle. ENT stands for ear nose and throat. So basically, today my teacher explained to us the ways of checking the ear, nose and throat. Wow, each has its own individual style of assessing. So, we practice the skills among my group mates. My group mates divide among themselves into 2 groups. The first group was assigned to be the doctor, while the other, the patients. The doctors have to put on the head lamp around his upper margin of his or her head. Well, it was kind of difficult tho, however, we simply managed, after several of trials. The whole classroom was filled with the atmosphere of laughter.

fried noodles or fried rice?

Today is Sunday. Normally, me and dear will spend time watching series or go out to nearest supermarket to do groceries. Anyways, dear’s not back yet. Yesterday when dear called, dear said, he’ll be back to Kursk on Monday early morning. So I decided to make fried rice / fried noodles for him…so that when he got back to the room, he don’t have to worry about his stomach. I just can’t wait to see him.
I really want to thank GOD for His protection upon him and the rest who went with him.
Ruth was here just now. There is nothing much to served; so I grilled some nuggets and sausages for her. We indeed had a great time together.

disturbed~ encourage~ happy

I’m very happy – finally my ophthalmology cycle has ended. What makes me more rejoice was, GOD is so faithful. I mean, throughout the 1st 3 days of my cycle, I was very disturbed by my group mates except for Pauline and Sien Mei. They just made me so frustrated with this subject. Anyhow, I really thank GOD for my cell group members, as their testimony really encouraged me so much; and remind me so clearly that GOD is good and He will make a way for me whenever there seems no way.
And when my teacher filled in the marks that we got throughout the cycle, I was overjoyed with the marks, and immediately, I knew this was none other than my Heavenly Father. Praise GOD for that!
Then, I had discipleship with my yee ling and Kareen. Guess, what, they spent me lunch at Italian café. I was very glad.
Really thank GOD for this is the day that HE has made. Amen.

Ни́жний Но́вгород

Today dear dear left Kursk for Nizhny Novgorod. Nizhny Novgorod (Нижний Новгород) colloquially shortened as Nizhny, is fourth largest city in Russia, ranking after Moscow, St. Petersburg, and Novosibirsk. The journey from Kursk to Nizhny was estimated to be 14 -15 hours by bus. That is long. He went to Nizhny for the intervarsity game. This intervarsity game has been carried out annually – somewhere around spring. Each university (that is recognized by Malaysia government for medical course) would have the chance to organize the game. Last year was held in Moscow (RSMU), while this year is in Nizhny. They have badminton, sepak takraw, footsal, volleyball and table tennis as the event every year. However, there is something new this year – the computer game.
Well, first day without dear for dinner and for cell group is something very unusual; I do miss dear very much.

not easy, but is certainly possible

I’m now having ophthalmology cycle. Ophthalmology is the branch of medicine which deals with the diseases and surgery of the visual pathways, including the eyes, brain, and areas surrounding the eye, such as the lacrimal system and eyelids.
I find it a little difficult to study this subject the first few days, but I really thank GOD for His blessings and wisdom, that HE helped me so much to learn the subject and also the strength to face the stress atmosphere in the class as well as during the preparation for the lesson in my room. It’s not easy, but it is certainly possible

french toast on mama's day!

Yesterday I made French toast.
French toast was one of the delights, where my mum likes to make for us during the weekends.
As I’m now in another land, so far from my mummy, and it so happen that yesterday was mother’s day, I decided to make French toast, and share it with my sis as well as my dear.
You can also try to make; especially when you have the left over bread ( I mean before the growth of the fungi) and don’t know what to do with it…all you need is:

Ingredients:

Bread 72 chasa/ eropa.
eggs
oil
sugar

Methods:

heat the pan with a little bit of cooking oil
beat the eggs in a big bowl
add in sugar
dip the bread with the beaten eggs + sugar ( front and back)
put into the hot frying pan
Take the bread out from the pan when both side of the bread is light brown in color.

You may then serve it!

best mum

Today is mother’s day. Here I would like to thank God for my mommy, for she has molded my heart.

Lord, you brought someone special to my mind,
The person who is none other than mommy,
I pray You will bless mommy for the many ways she has been blessings.
Surround mommy with Your love and the love of those who care so much for her.
Help mommy to see the many ways she touch her family and the many hearts that are blessed by her life.

Happy mother’s day, mommy!

badminton

Badminton has been my favorite sport this semester. I like playing it with my friends – Sam, my room mate, Kung kung, my unit mate, Ming, my group mate. Sometimes, Jason, another member in my group will come and join us. One thing I like about us is, we really have fun in the game, we have laughter all the way through the game. If you were to compare the under training team and ours, my! It is a vast different you know.
Anyways, after two days in a row, of badminton, I got some muscle ache on my musculus gastronemius, my biceps femoris muscle and my semitendinous muscle up to my latissimus dorsi muscle. My triceps too are aching. Well, thanks to dear who always help me to massage after the game. I felt much better after the massage!

Victory day!

Today is a holiday. The Victory day! Hmm…here are some history about the victory day. Victory Day in Russia, a national holiday which remembers the defeat of Nazi Germany in World War II and honors 20 million Soviets who died in the war.
The fighting of WWII tn Europe ended on May 2nd, 1945. The surrender of German troops was signed on May 4th and 5th but officially the war ended at midnight on May 8th 1945. To remember this important event, the Russians created a national holiday called Victory Day which is celebrated on May 9th in Russia.
When Nazi Germany attacked Russia or the Soviet Union, as it was known then, the Russian army pushed the Germans all the way back to Berlin which helped to defeat Hitler's forces.
The main reason for the celebration of Victory Day was to remember the people who died in the war. On that day, flowers are laid on their graves and veterans that are still alive go out on the streets wearing their medals and orders. There are few of them left now days and the number is getting smaller every year.
Russia mainly fought a war to defend itself, which is called a "patriotic war". That is what most Russians call WWII. In Russia almost all the families have at least one person who took part in the war. The other old citizens who did not fight during the war had to work in factories to make guns and preparations, which wasn't easier than fighting. They too are honored on Victory Day.

Here, the people of Kursk had a great celebration in conjunction to this special day. there were many special programmes lining up for this celebration.

a break

We’ll have holiday on this coming Thursday- Victory Day !!! Yes! I’m really looking forward for this break, coz, of such hectic cycle this week. We had new pediatrics teacher this week, and she really teaches us a lot. We have to prepare very well for her class, coz, her questions were all very KBKK. ( required a lot of thinking skills.) plus the material was very large for each classes. However, she was really a blessing to our group this week. We indeed learnt a lot. Thank GOD for her.

unexpected exam

Today, all of us the fourth year students of medical faculty were required to sit for path anatomy exam. Path anatomy was one of the third year course subject, and all of us were required to write the exam again. Well, no big deal, coz, it was just for the statistic purpose. Anyways, as I was preparing for that exam, I prayed and asked God to grant me the wisdom and good memory. I asked GOD to help me to have the mind of Christ to do the exam. We'll be sitting for another paper on Path physiology next week. However, thank God, I somehow did it well this time and i'm expecting for God's favor in my Path physio too. praise the Lord!

hectic day~

Today, I went to the visa department to renew my visa.
Well, just want to thank GOD for His wonderful blessing, leading me through this process. From going down to Moscow with dear in the middle of February, and following up the progression, wow, GOD has indeed prepared such a supporting dear dear for me, to help me through such a time as this.
I went to the Over – the visa department to settle my stuff in the afternoon.
Then, I went to the internet department to pay for May’s fee.
I then stayed back in the uni, preparing for the next day’s topic for class while waiting for lecture. Today, I’m having therapy lecture, given by Dr. Olga.
The topic for today’s lecture was about peptic ulcer.
What is peptic ulcer?
It is chronic relapsing inflammatory disease with lesion of mucosa of the stomach and duodenum, or any portion of GIT exposed to aggressive action of gastric juice.

I then, went for cell leader meeting and we learnt about angel as the ministering spirit who GOD created to help us. The angels heed only God’s command. (Hebrew 1:14)

Wow, even though today was a very tiring day, I thank God for His strength.
I also want to thank God for dear, coz, he prepared dinner for me.

It’s a hectic, but a wonderful day. Rejoice and give thanks to God, for all good things come from God alone.

at Manesh...then italian restaurant.

Today is Sarah Jane’s birthday. Sarah is one of my group mates. We’ve been group mates since the first year it self. Time really flies; it has been almost 4 years we knew each other. So, today, after class, we walked to Manesh together. It was kind of an excursion- according to Sarah, the birthday girl.
We went into the shopping complex. There were many branded shops here, like the New Yorker, Mango, Jennifer, Sela, Tvoe, Modis, United color of Benetton, Adidas, Reebok, and so on. There is a food court at the top floor. Wow, the food here was extremely expensive. Thus, Ming suggested that, we’ll do the shopping first, and followed by lunch. Goodness me; for a while, Sam, Sarah, Halley, Ming, Sien Mei & Liam, were out of my vision. So, left me, Pauline, we were just walking around. We then, decided to go to the supermarket, at the ground floor. Manesh can be considered one of the most established shopping complex, here in Kursk. There was a skating ring at the compound of the complex during the winter, while a tent for beer, during summer.
After an hour of shopping, we then, proceed to the nearest Italian restaurant for lunch. This year, we have an ice cream cake for Sarah. Halley bought from the supermarket. It was a chocolate ice cream cake. While waiting for our orders to come, we celebrated Sarah’s birthday. She cut her chocolate ice cream cake, as we sang the last verse of happy birthday song to her. Well, it has been our group 12 tradition, to sing only the last verse of the birthday song, to any of our group mates who celebrate his or her birthday especially in any restaurant. Perhaps, we were too shy to sing it in the public, as there will always many eyes staring on us.
After lunch, we went back to our respective places. As I was on the trolley bus from the Italian restaurant, I was able to peep at the temperature house and it was written, 23.7 C. praise the Lord! I thank GOD for such a good weather, here now. I believe, starting today, we’ll be able to enjoy our summer.

Barbeque…near hostel

As summer is approaching, the common activities done by the people over here is to have a picnic or a barbeque. Since today is a holiday for us, in conjunction with the Labor Day, we then, decided to have a barbeque. Guess what, it was not held by the river side, or any park as all the people here will do. We had the barbeque, just right in front of our hostel, at the compound. Well, I should thank GOD that we made the right choice of having it near the hostel, as there were many stuffs that we forgot to bring, example like the ketchup and chili sauce; the tissue paper and aluminum foil. I have to run up to the hostel to get those stuffs. Anyhow, everyone was very excited about it. Sam and Vanessa prepared fried rice, Kung Kung prepared the drinks – lemon tea, and also setting up the fire together with Eujack and Sia Rou’s brother, H.Kee, while Sia Rou herself, prepared salad. Me? Well, me; of course my specialty -the Char Mee/ fried noodles. {If you are interested about the recipe, do scroll down a little, as I’ve posted it on 210408.} I prepared this dish together with my dear.
While we were enjoying our day, there were few Russian Kids came, and kind of curious of what are we actually doing. Hmm, they must be wondering, why are those people doing the barbeque here…
Anyways, we chose to ignore them, and continue with our activities.
Dear was helping us to maintain the fire, by fanning the coals, while the rest were preparing the chicken wings and potatoes as well as sausages to be barbequed.
Before we ended the barbeque, Sam brought out her mash mallow; I was kind of surprised, as in; mash mallow for barbeque? I was clueless. She then showed me, the new way of eating the mash mallow. Emm ...it’s a new and nice way of eating mash mallow. Well, the taste was like eating durian or some regarded it as eating a sponge.
Basically, I enjoyed the time very much especially with jokes and laughter around.

Dark circles under eyes

Many of my friends have dark circles under their eyes, including my younger sister. Well, I found out that, dark circles occurring around the eyes can be due to a combination of reasons.

• Heredity;

• Age: The skin covering the eyelids thins out as we age and starts to lose its elasticity. With the skin being thinner, the blood vessels underneath become more apparent. To assist in collagen formation and re-vitalizing your fragile skin around the eyes, you may want to consider taking higher dosage of vitamin C.

• Toxicity: Dark circles under the eyes are often related to “toxicity” in the body. Detoxification of the body, especially the liver, could be helpful. Numerous scientific studies have demonstrated that milk thistle and dandelion improve liver function by cleansing the liver of dangerous toxins as well as stimulating the formation of new liver cells.

• Lack of sleep or tiredness: Lack of sleep or plain tiredness will also add to the problem of bags under your eyes. It can cause paleness of the skin, which again allows the blood underneath the skin to become more visible and appear darker.

As for me, the fourth point will always be the reason for me to have dark circle under my eyes.
Below are the measures, I believe will help.
Lightly tap, with one or two fingers, on and around these areas a few times a day, coz you need to get more circulation going around the eyes. Thus, this action will help stimulate needed circulation.
You could also apply cold tea bags or fresh cucumber slices on your eyes to soothe them, reduce puffiness and refresh the appearance of skin around the eyes.

autism

This afternoon, as I was reading an article on autism, I was actually quite surprised to see that autism
affects about one in every 625 Malaysian children born, according to a recent survey.
Autism is a permanent disorder and it is a lifelong complex biological disorder that affects some 35 million people worldwide today. Experts have identified some of the symptoms - inappropriate laughing, behaving in a stand-off manner, apparent insensitivity to pain, adversity to cuddling, extreme crying tantrums, unusual eye contact and uneven motor skills. There are generally two types of autistics: high-functioning and low- functioning. Low-functioning autistic adults need constant care and mostly stay at home with their parents or in residential homes where they can be looked after 24/7. But high-functioning autistic adults can be successful in their own right and lead relatively normal lives.

One fact that I learnt was, autism is more common in boys than in girls. A child with the "new autism" disorder is often the only child or the only other child to the parents. The child usually has a fairly normal development for the first 12 months, including the social relationship with parents. He or she may even have developed some spoken words with meaning between 12 and 18 months but, later, there occurs a sudden "loss" of recently acquired communication abilities. There is usually significant social impairment as well. The childhood has been rather restricted in terms of social interaction, especially with other children and at times even with adults. An extreme example is a child who spends almost all his time with his grandmother watching TV serials and seldom leaves the house or meets other children. There is no neurological abnormality in the vast majority of these children. Many are clinically bright children. With speech and language therapy, adequate socialisation with children in a normal nursery, and greater interest and involvement by parents, the child can do very well and often shows significant improvements. Many are able to enter normal mainstream education although they still require some support and understanding from the teacher.
Love is the key in preventing and healing the children with autism.

thanks dear...

Just want to thank GOD for blessing me such an understanding dear dear. I always want to have a good news bible. Why? - Many of my Christian friends asked. Well, perhaps, I should say the English language that was used, is much simpler and in addition to that, there are pictures to illustrate certain verses or events in the Bible. I find it so interesting to read the Bible. Yesterday, when I went for prayer meeting in Vivien’s room, I saw there was a bible standing on the shelf. I went nearer to have a look, and it was the Good news Bible. I was very excited and wanted to have it. So, today, I called Vivien, and told her I wanted to buy the bible. Vivien said ok, n told me the price. It cost 200 Rb. I told her to hold on the book, till I got my next month allowance. But, I was too excited of having it; I can’t wait any longer. I then asked dear, whether he has extra money for me to buy the Bible. I mean, I would like to borrow money from him to buy. But just want to thank GOD, my dear bless me with the Bible. He said, he will buy the bible for me as a present. Besides, my dear also gave me extra money to spend. I’m really happy. Thank GOD for His wonderful blessings. Thanks dear dear. Praise the LORD.

helpful tool for my individual work

As I wrote earlier, I’m having pediatric cycle these two weeks, the teacher asked us to prepare the individual work, and it must be hand written work. The topic is about Fallot’s tetralogy. So, after class, I came back to my hostel and start to gather information on my topic. I browse through the sources in the internet, and I went to www.emedicine.com and, I found some information that I need for my work. But this page can only be read by the sign- up members. I was so desperate to read what the content of the page is, and so, I registered myself as the Medscape member. Thank GOD that the registration was free. The Medscape provide the largest collection of professional medical information on the Web. Here, we are able to find fast answers to any practice and research questions and keep us up to date on the latest development in the medical area. Besides, it has everything from daily medical news updates and conference schedules to continuing medical education activities.
I find it very useful and I’m happy that I have another helpful tool for my studies.

Check it out for yourself too.

back in 1989 -1990...

Today is my first day of pediatrics cycle. The hospital is situated somewhere nearby 6CMP hospital. We took trolley – bus to the hospital this morning.
Well, entering a pediatric hospital, brought my mind back to 1989 – 1990, where I was warded in the pediatric hospital, back in Malaysia.
I was operated due to the inflammation on my submandibular lymph node. As far as I can remember, I went swimming, and probably, the route of infection begins with the dirty water that got into my ear.
I was warded in the hospital for a week to two. My mummy was with me. She took care of me day and night. My father, drove from Jelebu (my house) to Seremban almost everyday, just to keep us accompany. He bought me a set of story books to read.
There was a playing room in the ward, and I always play the block with other kids who were warded with different reasons.

Chicken chop.

Ingredients:

eggs ( beat)
salt
pepper
flour (add a pinch of salt with the pepper)
oil
Gravy:
chicken cube
potato flour
water
sugar

How to prepare?

take the chicken and dip it into the egg, then, dip it into the flour ( which is added with a pinch of salt and pepper), dip it into the beaten egg again and deep fry it
boil half mug of water
add the chicken cube and the potato flour till it thickens
For those who like the sauce to be sweet, add sugar, if not, no need.

Finally, put the chicken on dish and pour sauce on top!

Bon appetite!!

new recipes from birthday party...

Today is my group mates’ birthday. Did you notice? I put an s after the word mate. This is because there is a pair of twins in my group and today is their birthday. After class, we went to the nearest hypermarket to do marketing. We bought a lot of stuffs to cook for dinner, as we planned to throw them a party. The best thing was, the bill was foot by the birthday boys.

There was a lot of food today. There were sushi, emperor chicken, kicap chicken, stewed pork, fried broccoli and cauliflower, a bowl of soup, steam fish, wave- chicken-egg, fried noodles, rice. We have the dessert as well. We have the fruits- cocktail plus orange juice, and the apple cheese cake.
It was indeed a great party. I learnt new recipes from a teck and Liam.

From Liam, I learnt to make sushi!!
Well, sushi is very expensive over here. So, it is a good idea to learn how to make sushi as you can eat as much as you like. Now, how to make them?
First, you got to boil the rice (the round rice) with vinegar and a little bit of sugar.
Second, after the rice is cooked, then, make it into the shape of small rectangle
(4cm x 2cm x 1 cm)
Third, fried the eggs (the beaten kind) and cut it into the rectangle shape (4cm x 2cm)
Fourth, place the egg on top of the rice. You can also use the crab stick as the topping.
Fifth, take the seaweed and cut it into the same size as above rectangle for the fried eggs and crab stick.
Sixth, place the seaweed around the egg/ crabstick and the rice
Seventh, it is then ready to be served.

You can also make the roll- kind of sushi…
First, take the whole piece of the seaweed (round shape)
Second, place the rice on top of the seaweed
Third, roll the rice together with the seaweed
Fourth, cut the roll of sushi to be round sushi.
Fifth, place the caviar on top of the sushi. You may place the cut-salmon on top.

The second dish that I learnt was “wave-chicken-egg”. This recipe was introduced by a teck.
It was so simple. Just want to share here, incase you have no idea what to prepare for dinner, here you are…it is just so simple and nice.
How to make?
1st, beat about 4 to 5 eggs in a bowl and pour some mince meat + pepper + salt
2nd, mix the eggs and mince meat till evenly. Then, put it onto the microwave and wait for about 15 mins.
3rd, it is then, ready to be served.

See, it is as easy as ABC… try it out!!!

fall from bus

Today, as I was waiting for the bus at the nearby bus stop, there is a bus came from another town, which is about an hour drive. When the bus stop, there were many aged- passengers came down. Then, an old woman came down, and fell down when she was at the last step. I was startled to see such an incidence. She then, got up and clears her stuff. The glass bottle that she used to store the fresh milk was broken, and she actually cut her fingers. I felt very sorry to her. I asked sien mei whether she had plaster or not. She said she hasn’t. Then, Sam and I went to the nearest pharmacy to get the plaster for her. We helped her. Sam cleaned the old lady’s injured finger with tissue and I apply the plaster on her index finger.
Thank God for giving me the boldness to approach her and offer the help.

passion

Today I have a discipleship with Fern at the Dom pitta. We were discussing about God’s great love. Suddenly, there was a Russian man, cam e and approached us. Well, at the first sight, I wasn’t feeling easy. But, when I looked at Fern, she was so calm and confidence. When the man asked us what we are doing, Fern, told him that we are discussing about the Words of GOD. The man then, came nearer to have a look. And Fern showed him and explained to him that this is English version. There is Russian version too. The man got very excited when he found out that we knew at least 5 languages. And he knew only a little of German and of coz, Russian. He then asked Fern, what year she is in now, and other questions. Fern answered the man calmly. The man then left. What stroked me was her confidence and passion for the people over here about salvation, and about Christ. Wow, it was so amazing to see her attitude towards the people here.

primitive mentality

I’m having public health cycle this week. Public health is science and arts about prolonging of life & prevention and promotion of health affects.
Today, when we talk about the demography of the population in the world, my teacher shared something very interesting with us.
Do you roughly know how big is the population is the Artic or the Antarctica? According to her, not reaching a thousand of people is living at that place. Due to such limited number of population, intermarry is common, and thus, many genetic disorder occur among the people. This disorder will be brought to a generation to another generation.
Therefore, in order to introduce a new blood into the family, there is such tradition that, they allow sexual intercourse to occur between the wife and any male traveler. And when their wives got pregnant, there will be a celebration.
Well, I personally think that it’s kind of scary as they have such a primitive mentality.

Lipton ~ white tea

Lately, I’m fond of drinking white tea. My dear bought the Lipton (The Blanc – white tea) from the nearby supermarket. Here are some facts about the white tea.
White tea is tea manufactured by a process that uses relatively low heat and no rolling. The formative stage is an extended period of withering, during which enzymatic reactions progress under the right temperature, humidity and airflow. The key is to get the fresh leaves to mature properly with minimal oxidation. White tea usually contains buds and young tea leaves, which have been found to contain lower levels of caffeine than older leaves, suggesting that the caffeine content of some white teas may be slightly lower than that of green teas.
A study at Pace University in 2004 showed white tea had more anti- viral and anti-bacteria qualities than green tea.
White tea contains higher catechin levels than green tea due to its lack of processing. Catechin concentration is greatest in fresh, unbroken and unfermented tea leaves. Furthermore, one study examining the composition of brewed green and white teas found that white tea contained more Gallic acid, theobromine, and caffeine. White tea contains less fluoride than green tea, since it is made from young leaves only.
According to Andreas Schuld of the Canadian "Parents of Fluoride Poisoned Children" tea is very high in fluoride content, much higher than the Maximum Contaminant Limit (MCL) set for fluoride in drinking water. Decaffeinated teas have an even higher fluoride content, which is thought to be due to high fluoride levels in the water used in decaffeination. According to Schuld, fluoride could reduce the anti-cancer properties of tea, or even possibly cause cancer at continued toxic levels of the mineral. For instance, Schuld references a 1998 study, which found positive correlation between colon cancer and tea intake. The high fluoride content could also cause neurological and renal damage, especially in the presence of aluminum. Additionally, the high fluoride content could cause osteoporosis, arthritis, skeletal fluorosis and other bone disorders.

Menstrual cramps?

Menstrual cramps are pretty common — in fact, more than half of all women who menstruate say they have cramps during the first few days of their periods. Doctors think that cramps are caused by prostaglandin, a chemical that causes the muscles of the uterus to contract.
Depending on the girl, menstrual cramps can be dull and achy or sharp and intense, and they can sometimes be felt in the back as well as the abdomen. These cramps often become less uncomfortable and sometimes even disappear completely as a girl gets older.
Many girls and women find that over-the-counter pain medications (like acetaminophen or ibuprofen) can relieve cramps, as can taking a warm bath or applying a warm heating pad to the lower abdomen. Exercising regularly throughout the monthly cycle may help lessen cramps, too.

char mee in kursk??

Char mee = fried noodles.

Let me share the recipe here with all of you.

Ingredients:
Spaghetti noodles.
onions ( mince)
crab stick & sausages
mince meat ( can be pork/ chicken)
vegetables ( long bean, carrots, mushrooms, olives if you like)
You can make it more simple by just buying the packed-vegetables in the supermarket.
Eggs (fried)

How to prepare?

Boil the spaghetti in a pot of boiling water + a little bit of salt + a little bit of cooking oil. ( not to long of boiling, coz, it will soften the noodles and you’ll find it hard to fry in the pan later)
Meanwhile, fried the onions in the pan till fragrance.
Pour in the mince meat and crab stick and sausage and fried them together.
Pour in the vegetables and fried for a while
Fried the eggs ( can mix or fried separately)
When the noodles are ready, take them out from the boiling pot, and rinse them with cold water.
Now pour in the noodles to the pan and mix the noodles with those ingredients that you had fried
Pour in some black sauce and some drop of soy sauce + a pinch of salt.
Sprinkle some pepper and fried for another 5 mins.
The char mee is ready to be served.

Isn’t it simple? I love to fried noodles for my dear as he enjoys it so much.

Have a try…

oldest person

Hi there…
Finally the internet connection is smoother now. Thanks to my dearest dear who helped me to call the person who is in charged for this connection in our hostel.

Hey…do you know who the oldest person in the world today?
Well, I read this news in an article, and would like to share this amazing news with all of you.
Edna Parker, who is 115 years old today was born April 20, 1893, and was recognized by Guinness World Records as the oldest of that group last August after the death of a Japanese woman four months her senior.
Scientists who study longevity of this special people called them the supercentenarians.
Two years ago, researchers from the New England Centenarian Study at Boston University took a blood sample from Parker for the group's DNA database of supercentenarians.
Her DNA is now preserved with samples of about 100 other people who made the 110-year milestone and whose genes are being analyzed, said Dr. Tom Perls, an aging specialist who directs the project.
Perls said the secret to a long life is now believed to be a mix of genetics and environmental factors such as health habits. He said his research on about 1,500 centenarians hints at another factor that may protect people from illnesses such as heart attacks and stroke — they appear not to dwell on stressful events.
"They seem to manage their stress better than the rest of us," he said.
So u see now… stress is also considered as a silence killer.
Stress is often our own doing. When we sin, we bring the stress of painful consequences upon us. Stress comes when we fail to trust God for help.
As an encouragement here… in john 16:33 “I have told you all this so that you may have peace in me. Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows. But take heart, because I have overcome the world”

was it a good one or a bad one?

This week all 4th year students are called for medical check ups.
Well, today is group 10, 11 and 12.
When I first knew about this test, I was a little disturbed as I felt very uneasy about the management in the hospital here in Kursk. Well, obviously, there were many arguments and objections, coz; this does not involve time, but money too. We paid so much for our insurance fee every year to out agent, yet, we cannot even earn the benefits from it. I was kind of frustrated with that. This news was even brought up to the Malaysian embassy in Moscow, yet, they can’t help us, in anything, coz, and there is black and white, issued by the government here in Kursk. And there were rumors saying, one cannot graduate if he or she did not undergo the check up.
What to do, rule are still rules. We just got to do it!
There were few things we have to prepare for that check up.
Firstly, we have to prepare
A HIV test to certify you are HIV negative, which cost about 284 Rb (express)
Stool for stool test,
Money 725 rb + 60.50 rb for following test (general body checkup by general practitioner, blood test, ENT check up, dermatological checkup and fluoroscopy)

Well, just want to thank GOD here, coz, the vaginal examination is simply a rumor and was not conducted at all.

Everything went on smoothly, except for the dermatological examinations, when the doctor asked first the boys to take off their clothes and pants (basically naked) for skin check up. There was a little havoc there in the department, when after two of my friends came out from the room, complaining that they had to strip off for the check up. This scares many of us. The girls started to think of reasons and excuses that will prevent themselves from undergoing such scary check up. Some even tried to lie, saying it’s inconvenient for them to do so, as they are having period. Anyways, when the third boy went in, and the doctor asked him to strip, he resisted, saying he had the rights not to do this check up. The doctor then said, she can’t put her signature if, no test was done on him. There was a big fuss. The doctor then gave up, and finally asked all of us to wait for the next doctor for the following check ups. She then left. And all of us are safe from stripping.

Was it a good one or a bad one?

Nelson&JoyceHO

i'm really happy...
thank GOD, for blessing me the opportunity to chat with joyce and nelson.
Really miss them very much. They are now in UK.
I pray that they'll have a great time together and may GOD's blessings be upon them, wherever they go.

baby girl

Today is the last day of my obstetrics cycle. I’m very glad coz, we don’t have to sit for the credit test, and instead we went and witness a vaginal delivery. Well, I really want to thank GOD for this opportunity to have me be the witness for such an event. When we reached the classroom, our teacher came and asked us to be ready with our mask, secondary shoes, and medical cap. There was a woman, with approximately 6 cm of cervix dilatation. Well, a normal delivery would require approximately 10 cm for labor.
So, off we went to the pre- delivery room. We saw the woman, was actually resting on the bed. After and hour of waiting, the woman started to yell. She was then sent for vaginal delivery. Earlier on, our teacher, who was the doctor on duty, performed amniontomy on the patient.
What is amniotomy?? Short description here…Amniotomy is a simple procedure which can be used alone for induction of labor if the membranes are accessible, thus avoiding the need for pharmacological intervention.Amniotomy is frequently performed on women who labor in hospitals for the purpose of speeding up their labors, The procedure is simple: a hospital attendant inserts an instrument like a crochet hook through the cervix, and snags and breaks the amniotic sac
Probably is because of the amniotomy, the woman felt extra pain, when the vaginal examination was done. After the examination, the nurse asked her to go back to her bed and wait. Poor woman, she was in great pain, when the cervix started to dilate little by little in approximately each 2 min, and she just got to bear with such pain for few hours. She was given the spasmolytics – Noshpa, intramuscularly. After, 3 hours, approximately 12.45 pm, the woman was sent to the delivery room, and was prepared for labor.
We were there with her, anticipating seeing the newborn. She pushed very hard, the first time, the second time, and finally the third time; the baby’s head was finally delivered.
A baby girl!
After sometimes, the placenta was delivered out too. Then, my teacher sewed the tear- perineum.
Wow, what a process!
Everything went on smoothly. Both mother and child are in healthy condition.
Hallelujah!!

2 ½ weeks of obs...

This week I’m having the obstetrics cycle. This cycle gonna alst for 2 ½ weeks…kinda long. Well, as for today, we were late for class, coz we were not sure, which hospital should we go. Anyways, thank GOD that the teacher was not mad at us, but asked us to prepare well for tomorrow’s topic which is on abnormalities of puerperium.

What is puerperium? It’s the period beginning immediately after the birth of a child and extending for about six weeks. So, for tomorrow’s class, we were asked to prepare about the abnormalities of puerperium, which also can be regard as the puerperal infection; that includes, the endometritis, urinary tract infection, and mastitis.

hectic week

Hi I’m back to share with you again!

Well, the past week was indeed a very hectic week for me.
I had urology cycle, and it was very interesting.
Urology is the branch of medicine that focuses on the urinay tract of males and females, and on the reproductive system of males. Medical professionals specializing in the field of urology are called urologists and are trained to diagnose, treat, and manage patients with urological disorders; The organs covered by urology include the kidneys, ureters, urinary bladder, urethra and the male reproductive organs. In men, the urinary system overlaps with the reproductive system, and in women the urinary tract opens into the vulva. In both sexes, the urinary and reproductive tracts are close together, and disorders of one often affect the other. Urology combines management of medical problems such as urinary infections, and surgical problems such as the correction of congenital abnormalities and the surgical management of cancers. Such abnormalities within the genital region are called genitourinary disorders. Urology is closely related to, and in some cases overlaps with, the medical fields of nephrology, oncology and gynaecology. Well, I find it very interesting to know the basic of this subject. Moreover, my teacher, Mdm, Shumakova, was a very dedicated teacher. She taught us a lot about urology and shared a lot of her experiences during her practise.

Happy Easter 'o8

Happy easter…Jesus loves you.

Well…, today we are celebrating easter. This year easter is celebrated kinda differently, if were to compare to the previous years. This year, we have the celebration in the cell group it self. So, today, me and sien mei, another leader of the cell, woke up so early to prepare for this special celebration.
I, personally, felt, it is real hard to get up so early on Sunday morning to cook. Hey, I knew cooking is my hobby, yet, not at that hour… but, but…because I want to celebrate this day as a very special day, waking up earlier that usual, is no big deal for me. Jesus who loved us so much, that was so willing to die for u and me, and is risen on the 3rd day of his death; his sacrificial, is not comparable to anything in this world. So, what is the fuss of waking up such early this morning, rite?
The 1st thing I did with sien mei was preparing the pasta. Then, we rushed to the nearest supermarket to buy some necessities for the cheese cake. So, after the supermarket, we went to the 5 th hostel to, Sarah Jane’s place. Sarah is one of my group mates, and she loves baking. For your information, she’s really good in baking. So, she helped us and at the same time taught us how to bake the apple cheese cake. Emmmm, it was so yummy.
I really wanted to thank Sarah for helping me.
After baking, we went to the market to get some urgent stuffy for Alice. Then, we went back to our hostel. Thank GOD for ching ching, coz, she’s really a great blessing to us. She helped us with big and small stuff.
After that, we baked chocolate cake, supervised by Elisa. Finally, we started the event, I believed, everyone of us did enjoy a lot, especially when came to the topic bout their lives, during childhood, and how did they grow with their siblings.
The special event is ended with a light refreshment and it’s real delicious !!
Well, today, is really a very tiring day for me. I called home, and I really want to thank God, for blessing me the opportunity to call back to Malaysia and chat with my mum. She encouraged me a lot, and I felt so energetic then.

Well, I think I have to go and sleep now. My eyes are too heavy to open and read. Tomorrow will have a new cycle~ urology.
All in all, I want to thank GOD for today.

2weeks of therapy...

Hmm, today is my last day of therapy. Well, throughout this 2 weeks, I’ve been learning a lot bout the basic of gastroenterology and pulmonology.
Today, we had a sudden credit test, was not informed earlier. My goodness, my question was on pneumonia and chronic pancreatits.
Thank GOD for HIS favour that I can still remember those info that I have studied for the past two weeks.
Along these 2 weeks, I was also very busy completing my case history. Well, this time, I can say it was a lil harder than the previous one…
My patient had acute pneumonia and was diagnosed of having stable angina as associated disease. Throughout these 2 weeks, i realised that i have to brush up my Russian Language, coz, it really gonna have problem in getting information from the patient, in order to complete the case history.
Anyway, I really thank GOD for blessing me the perseverance to complete this task.
Praise the Lord!

I’m really impressed by all their performances… they must have work real hard for this concert.
But, I wasn’t 100% happy. There were many stuffs in my mind.
Anyways, sleep now… things gonna get better tomorrow.

Happy Women's Day.

Tomorrow 8th of March, is a holiday in Russia. Holiday means no class for the day. Ah, finally, there is a day that I can wake up a lil’ later than the usual time. This holiday is in conjunction with the Women’s day celebration. No wonder, today, as I walked along the Lenin Street, there were many old lady selling flowers. There were different kind of flowers; there were roses, carnations and etc. Those flowers were sold with extraordinary price.
My group mates bought a bouquet of rose for our dermatology teacher, which cost about 270 Rb. It wasn’t only our group, there were many students did the same thing too.
I remembered when I was in “padfak” (preparatory course), my Russian Language teacher, Madam Nelly, told me that it is a tradition in Russia, where students buy flowers and chocolates for their female teacher. This is to respect and express our gratitude to them. Same thing goes to those who are in the relationships, where the boyfriends will get something special for their girlfriends and the husbands will prepare something meaningful for their wives.

So, Happy Women’s Day to all the women in the world! God bless you. J

It's a happy day (2)

I want to thank GOD for blessing me to get "aftomat" for my dermatology exam, this morning. By the way, "aftomat" means one is exempted from taking an examination.
Praise GOD for it.

It's a happy day (1)

I am very happy today because today is my friend’s birthday. I wish her all the best in years to come. After class, my group mates and I went to the Baskin robins to have lunch and throw a party for her. Very simple, yet I believed it’s memorable.
We bought her 4 little cute cups. I guess she will love them.
We had a great time there. Besides celebrating birthday, we took the opportunity to strengthen the rapport among the group mates. Isn't that great?

WHY MUST ONE SMOKE???

Today, after lecture, I came back to the hostel with the transport that is provided by the university. Well, after waited for around half and hour, the driver came in to the van, and I thought. “Yes, will be back to my room soon!” But, things didn’t turn out that way. Instead, the driver came in to the van, and started to take his cigarette out and put it between his lips, and started to smoke… can you imagine, he was smoking in the van, without winding down the windows. No ventilation. A few of my friends and I got so suffocated inside. He didn’t even bother to think twice, the consequences of his action made us to be a smoker too, the passive smoker, I mean… I got very irritated with him. After smoking, he went down from the van, and gave us a lame excuse, that, the van is not full yet, there were still vacancies...we told him that we were the last batch for the day, however he didn’t even bother to listen… so, have to wait some more… One of my friends then, opened the window at the roof of the van… Ah, fresh AIR!!!
After some minutes, the driver came, and asked us so rudely, why did we opened the window…we kept silence. He then drove us back. On the way to the hostel, there was a massive traffic jam and we were caught in the jam. The driver again took out another cigarette and smoke.
I just can’t understand, what is so great to smoke, when everybody knows that smoking kills.

Relieved.

Hmmm, finally I managed to complete my case history for Dermatology cycle. This time, the university required the student to prepare two copies of case history- in English and in Russian. Well, to prepare the English case history is a norm to all medical students, but, to write the case history in Russian is a big struggle for me.
I have to look for extra material in Russian language, in order to write a complete and understandable case history.
Thank GOD for my Russian language teacher, Madam Elena, who helped me with my grammars and reconstructed my unclear sentences.
Well, there is more case history, for different subjects, coming up for me to write especially in Russian language. What to do, but to persevere, right??
